After all we are Land Rover drivers."- Suraj Thapa's proclamation reminds me of "Ajantrik." a much-acclaimed Bengali film by Ritwik Ghatak based on a short story by Subodh Ghosh. It epitomises the passionate relationship between man and the machine-a owner-driver and his old car. Like in the film, Himalayan Land Rovers are perhaps awaiting the same eventuality- to be sold as scrap. But this book is not about pre-grieving rather, the opposite- it celebrates Land Rovers and their owner drivers, and the passengers who, over many years made numerous journeys through the electrifying Himalayan landscapes.
